Jerry Baum is an Evansville artist who visited the monastery and academy on many occasions. Jerry painted the monastery marker and chapel from which prints were made, The original is in the prioresses' office.

The Fine Arts Building, later called Art Studio, was dedicated on May 5, 1968. A federal grant of $90,805 was received to help with the construction of the arts facility, at one time a cow barn. See also YMCA.

The contents in this file were discovered buried in the concrete blocks supporting the marble altar which was dismantled during the restoration of the interior of the monastery church in 2004.

Most buildings at Monastery Immaculate Conception had to be checked for asbestos before any changes could be made; even the asbestos had to be removed in Madonna Hall, before the building was demolished. This file also contains estimates for asbestos analysis for St. Benedict Hall in 1992, Benet Hall in 2016, and Boiler room in 2016.

These notices of assessment of land and structures indicate the assessed value of property and buildings owned by the Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand. The assessments were prescribed by Department of Local Government Finance.

The cornerstone (preserved) of Assumption Cathedral was laid on July 7, 1872. The Cathedral was demolished in 1965.

Mary Elizabeth Bickwermert, mother of Sister Mary Philip Berger, O.S.B., was a 1937 academy graduate. In this file there is also a scrapbook of Edna Bickwermert Sollman. (See "Finding Aids.")

These award items were to be used at the annual Horseback Riding Show at the Academy.

The academy has annual awards assemblies at which students receive academic awards, service awards, organization awards, scholarhip awards.

The academy's baccalaureate ceremony is usually a "Baccalaureate Mass" during which the graduates present flowers to parents and friends.

This file contains an accumulation of the news clippings, brochures, pamphlets and programs used in the Retreats and programs of the Monastery Immaculate Conception at Ferdinand, Indiana. These materials take up 2012 when the Kordes retreats and programs discontinued.

The Benedictine Hospitality Center was the idea of Sister Barbara Lynn Schmitz, who gathered the money for the Center by personal solicitations for the most part. Seufert Construction was contracted to complete the renovation of the East quadrangle (former guest department). Construction began in 2017 with completion and blessing taking place in the summer of 2018.

A Benedictine Life Weekend gives a single Catholic woman an opportunity to experience the Benedictine way of life. Weeks carry the invitation "Come & See. Come and See).

The oldest pictures in this collection were taken in 1950 during the Abbot Primate's Pilgrimage in which Mother Clarissa Riehl participated. This file contains pictures of the American Benedictine prioresses at meetings, most retreats, since 1950.

The Sister Formation Conference of the 1950's mandated that religious orders educate their memberships.

The Ferdinand Benedictines formed a Benedictines for Peace Subcommittee. These cassettes include AC0559, AC0560, AC0561, AC0562, AC05663.

These are peace and justice materials used by the Peace and Justice Committee and the Benedictines for Peace Cord Subcommittee.

The Benedictines for Peace Committee worked with the Sanctuary Movement, The Ribbon, and the Nuclear Free Zone declaration.

The Ferdinand community formed a Benedictines for Peace subcommittee to sustain peace and nonviolence community activities.

This paper was a response to Dr. James J. Divita of Marian College who was commissioned to write a history of the Archiocese of Indianapolis.

These books contain copied benediction music. One piece was composed by Vincent Wagner, O.S.B.

Marian Heights Academy held benefit auctions many years, usually during the parents' fall weekend on campus. Paul Taylor was the auctioneer. Paul's wife was Mildred Taylor.

This news sheet, edited by the junior sisters, was a forerunner of IN FORMATION. There were nine issues.

Dated 9-11-2015, copies of this manual were given to bidders who wished to carry out the specifications of the contract to redesign Benet Hall into apartments.

Under the leadership of Sister Barbara Lynn Schmitz, prioress, the sisters have been in contact with the State Housing Authority concerning the use 1of Benet Hall for senior housing. Tax credits should be available to the sisters.

Ground breaking for Benet Hall took place on July 21, 1963. Built for sisters in formation, it was dedicated August 16, 1964. The 1963 Albert A. Krampe annual log records bits of the history of the building in 1963.

Berta Hummel was the creator of the Hummel sketches from which authentic Hummels were and are made by the W. Goebel Company in Germany.
