Lautner's operation at Mater Dei, "damned poor administration"

Grimmelsman, Bishop of Evansville, in re the results of a school board meeting on the previous day to purchase the house at the top of the hill as a temporary auxiliary dwelling for the sisters; also in the letter is notice that the board decided to hire an agriculture instructor part time with the other part time as chemistry teacher.

William Lautner, in re the board proposal, which the bishop did not find to be satisfactory; he suggested that a proper solution is a permanent home for the faculty, hence the bishop authorized determining the proper location and immediate study of the number and size of rooms needed.

    The Ferdinand Benedictines lived in Mater Dei Convent from the time of its construction in 1951-1952 until the summer of 2000. Mater Dei Convent, designed by Virgil J. Miller, belonged to the Diocese of Evansville. The Convent Lease Agreement (1992-1995) is also in this file.
