Permission to reprint text and music was obtained for use by the Ferdinand Benedictines.

This English breviary was intended primarily for the use of the Benedictine Brothers in St. Meinrad Abbey.

This Latin breviary was used by Alban Berling, O.S.B., monastery/academy chaplain from St. Meinrad.

The Sisters of St. Benedict in Ferdinand began using this Latin-English breviary on February 10, 1958, changing to the vernacular on this day.

This is a breviary for religious and the laity.

Through these lists of information drawn from many sources, the development of community prayer at Monastery Immaculate Conception can be traced.

The psalms are marked with tones for chanting.

The sisters at Monastery Immaculate Conception recited the Office of the Blessed Virgin from 1867 through 1937 when they began the Divine Office in Latin. The 1900 Latin-German book is on display in the quadrangle.

These booklets were compiled for liturgical use by the sisters and used for specific celebrations. Most are undated.

This set of breviaries was used for work copies and reference by the monastery.

These are well used books, some of them carrying the first monastery seal. The book used by Mother Seraphine Kordes is in her collection.

The "O Antiphons," sung traditionally as the Magnificat antiphons from December 17-23, belong to a centuries old advent liturgical tradition.

The Ferdinand Benedictines began compiling and producing their own Liturgy of the Hours books in the late 50s. Accession #790, in conjunction with this file, contains the letters of Mother Julia Goebel and a monk of Blue Cloud Abbey, regarding the request from Curia (Cong. for Sacred Rites) for Rome's approval of the vernacular text of this book of Matins.
