THE SOUND OF MUSIC was made in Salzburg, Austria. Many of the scenes were shot at Nonnberg Abbey from which St. Walburg Abbey in Eichstatt was founded. Nonnberg Abbey was founded c. 712 by St. Rupert. Thus, Monastery Immaculate Conception is a fifth-generation daughter of Nonnberg Abbey. The photographs were taken by Sister Mary Philip Berger and Sister Mary Dominic Frederick who visited Nonnberg Abbey in the early 1990's. Sister Mary Philip visited again in 2000.
