              Benedictine sisters (from Indianapolis, according to the book) staffed the parochial school in Putnam County until 1955. (See page 73).
              When the Benedictines began in the school is unknown, nor is there any record of which sisters were there. The book contains one photo of a first communion class with Sister Victoria(?) and Sister Mary Bernard (Knust?), the third sister is unidentified. After 1955, the school was staffed by Providence sisters.

              These directories give the history of the Catholic parishes in Harrison County, Indiana. The Ferdinand Benedictines were the first teachers at St. Joseph School, 1953: Sisters Mary John Roehl, Mary Raymond Obert (Beech Grove), Wilfrieda Effing (Beech Grove) (all deceased). In 1993, the following Ferdinand Benedictines worked at the Parish and school: Sisters Ann Marie Howard, Linda Bittner, Joyce Marie Newton.

This is a study in Indiana Catholic and civil history compiled and edited by Father C. F. Walsh. The text was written by Thomas P. Conry, S.J., West Baden College as a Loyola University thesis for a masters of art degree.
